About Us – Peak Education

At Peak Education, located in Epsom, Auckland, we are dedicated to helping Cambridge Assessment International Education [CAIE] students reach their full academic potential. By providing in-person tutoring in Auckland, small classes – capped at 10 students each class, and private tutoring, we are able to tailor syllabus support designed to meet the unique needs of each student, empowering them to improve their performance in their studies and examinations.

OUR TEACHERS

Michael Stewart

Mike gained his BA Honours Degree from the University of London and then completed a MA in History at Auckland University. He has taught at King’s College for 30 years and has been the Head of History for the last 20 years. He has extensive experience of the Cambridge History courses and has taught a vast range of the themes and topics offered. Mike has taught a number of A Level courses including European history in the interwar years, 1919–41; International History, 1945-1992; and The USA, 1944-1992. He has also taught a range of AS History courses including Modern Europe, 1750 -1921; and International History, 1870-1945. In 2011 he was awarded the New Zealand Independent Schools Excellence in Teaching Award for Exceptional Professional Performance Years 11 to 13.

Laura Gardner

Laura is a French teacher at St Cuthbert’s College, where she brings her expertise as a native speaker from the sunny South of France. She holds a Bachelor in English as a Foreign Language from Lyon 3 Jean Moulin University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Birmingham. She began her teaching career in the UK in 2017 before relocating to New Zealand with her husband in 2019. Laura has experience teaching across multiple curricula, including Cambridge, IB, IGCSE, and NCEA. She is passionate about taking her students to a fluent level in French.

Mark Johnston

Mark earned a B.Bus Ed (Hons) in Economics and Business from Manchester and also an M.Ed (Hons) from Massey University. He has taught A Level Economics for 38 years, firstly at Epsom College in the UK before moving to King’s College in New Zealand where he is Head of Economics and Psychology. For the last four years he has been a Cambridge examiner for A Level Economics and is also a co-author of the elearneconomics website. He has extensive experience in helping students master the intricacies of Economic theory and has a particular focus on essay writing and evaluation. Jason Koh

Jason was born in Singapore and completed his Cambridge Mathematics at ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels with distinctions. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics from the National University of Singapore. He attended teacher training and obtained his Diploma in Education. Jason has a Master qualification in Human Resource Management from the Rutgers State University of New Jersey, USA.
