Year 9 Science — Goals for Learning
- 描述
使学生能够:
- build confidence and curiosity in science through hands-on investigations and evidence-based explanations
- understand that matter is made of particles and recognise how elements, compounds, mixtures, and the periodic table help explain real-world materials
- describe how chemical reactions occur, recognise signs of change, and communicate these changes using word equations
- apply particle, chemical, and physical science ideas to situations in their lives (e.g., fuels, energy, waves, motion)
- explain how energy is transferred or transformed in systems such as engines, circuits, and ecosystems
- investigate waves (sound, light), describing how they behave and how they transfer energy without moving matter
- explore forces and motion using Newton’s laws, predict motion changes, and represent forces with diagrams
- understand Earth systems (atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, lithosphere) and how matter and energy cycle between them
- recognise how carbon moves through Earth’s spheres and describe the impact of human activity on climate
- explain how DNA, genes, proteins, and environment contribute to traits and variation in organisms
- investigate infectious and non-infectious diseases, immunity, and strategies for preventing disease
- describe how plants and animals transport essential substances and how diffusion, osmosis, and active transport support life
- develop scientific thinking by collecting data, interpreting patterns, using models, and drawing evidence-based conclusions
Year 9 students study the following topic areas:
